Every Other Day is Halloween Arrived!
If you grew up in the Washington DC area in the 70's or 80's you should know what I'm talking about. Dick Dyszel was a Washington local TV celebrity host for WDCA Channel 20.
I first encountered him in the early 80's on the children shows as Captain 20 on shows like Kids Break.
But he became my hero in the mid-80's when he returned to late night horror hosting as Count Gore De Vol the host of Creature Feature. It was a weekend tradition for me and my Dad. Every Saturday night we would stay up all night and watch the WORST movies hosted by the BEST host since Zacherley! It was such an important bonding experience for us that it was the central memory I talked about at my Dad's funeral.
I can't wait to watch it!

Retro Post: V Arrives

A Scream Demon joins the family. So we have been blessed here at "Through the Patch" with an addition to the coven.
Veronica Jane was born at 5:34pm July 30th. Now, the visions in my head of tossing the newborn into a baby bjorn and going to the workshop to create more fiends has not worked out quite as I had expected.
Babies are a tad more work than I thought and prone to crying for, ohhh I don't know, DAYS at a time.
So I don't know how many corpses I'll get done this year.
But there will be pumpkins. Oh yes. There will be pumpkins.

Been a blast ever since. Here's an update. This is V 17 months later. Isn't it crazy?
Retro Post - Carnival Jack

My new decor "Carnival Jack" arrived from Pumpkin Hollow's Etsy shop today. Fantastic art there. Plus he was packaged with stickers!
I love this thing, think I'll get a whole collection.

Back From (or To) The Dead
No I didn't die or anything, just went into the usual post Halloween funk.
To be honest, 'funk' is not the proper word.
I'll just say, Christmas with a 1 year old is a blast but nothing really appropriate for a Halloween blog.
So, I lost track of things, hope you can forgive me.
I did NOT, however, miss the incredible displays this year.
This was an inspired year for almost everybody!
So...guess it's time to get back in the swing of things.

Happy Halloween
Returned from the wedding with aching feet. Watched some of the Addams Family marathon before Monster Baby went to bed.Not a single ToT'er.
Drove back up to my Mom's to drop off the tux and listened to 'Inner Sanctum' and 'Lights Out' and the Halloween Stomp CD.
About to settle down for the night and let 'Bride of Frankenstein' usher me to dreamland.
Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween.
Night.

Classic TV - Countdown to Halloween Oct 27
The Examiner has a Classic TV countdown of the 25 scariest episodes.Funny thing about Halloween episodes. My top 5 fav The Addams Family's Halloween episodes are a see-saw. Not even close to the best episodes. Conversely the MASH Halloween episode 'Trick or Treatment' one of the best of the series.

Charles Addams A Cartoonist's Life

I love this book. I read many biographies, I rarely read them more than twice. I've read this one 4 times. Addams was such a fascinating character and his life rang of a Carey Grant movie. HE, of course was no Grant, but the 'plot' of his life and attitude was like a Topper sequel.
He was Gomez Addams in many ways. Making a living, a very comfortable living, drawing cartoons he had the eccentric style and carefree attitude of Gomez. It wasn't all wine and roses, of course, but in general his attitude was inspiring.
